Goose down insulates by trapping air inside three-dimensional clusters. Larger, more mature clusters trap more air — which is why a high fill-power duvet manages to feel lighter and warmer at the same time.

Royal Elite has been filling duvets in Canada since 1994. Every duvet in this collection uses baffle-box construction: internal fabric walls that let the down loft fully and stop it migrating toward the edges, which is what causes the cold spots you get in cheaper channel-stitched comforters.

Fill power measures how many cubic inches one ounce of down occupies. Higher fill power means larger down clusters, which trap more air per ounce — so a higher fill-power duvet delivers the same warmth at less weight.

• 650 fill power — excellent warmth with a slightly denser feel. Our best value entry into genuine goose down.
• 700–725 fill power — the balance point most people choose. Noticeably lighter than 650 at the same warmth.
• 850 fill power — our lightest and loftiest. The same warmth as 650 at meaningfully less weight, and the longest-lasting loft.

Fill power is not the same as warmth. Warmth comes from how much down is inside the duvet; fill power determines how heavy that warmth feels. Choose your warmth level first, then your fill power.

• Summer — for bedrooms kept at 21–25°C (70–77°F), or if you sleep warm.
• All Season — for bedrooms at 18–20°C (65–69°F). Our most popular choice, and right for most Canadian and American homes year-round.
• Winter — for bedrooms below 18°C (64°F), or if you sleep cold.
• Winter+ — available on the Hungarian White Goose Down Duvet, for the coldest rooms.

Canadian Hutterite white goose down comes from geese raised to full maturity by Hutterite farming communities in Alberta. Mature geese produce larger, more resilient clusters than the younger birds used for most commercial down, which is why Hutterite down reaches 725 and 850 fill power and holds its loft for decades. It is also the only fill in this collection that is Canadian from farm to finished duvet.

Hungarian white goose down is the European benchmark, prized for softness and loft. We import the down and fill every duvet here in Canada. It offers the widest range in the collection — 650, 725 and 850 fill power, across four warmth levels.

White goose down is our accessible tier at 650 to 700 fill power. The same construction, the same certifications, the same Canadian manufacturing, with a shorter and denser cluster.

Goose down and feather blends combine down's insulation with the weight and support of fine feathers, at the lowest price in the collection.

They're the same product. In Canada and the UK it's a duvet; in the United States it's usually called a down comforter or a duvet insert. Every duvet in this collection is designed to go inside a duvet cover, and every one has corner loops that tie into the cover to stop it shifting. You can use one on its own, though a cover protects the cotton shell from body oils and dust and extends the time between professional cleanings.
